Use case

Storage optimisation

A battery earns its keep only when its schedule changes with the day. DYDON Energy AI OS plans dispatch daily and opens the same battery to market programmes.

The problem

Storage sized, then left alone
The business case assumed the battery would follow tariffs and peaks. In practice it runs the schedule set at commissioning.
Several goals, one battery
Peak shaving, tariff arbitrage, solar self-consumption and demand response all want the same energy at different times. Without a plan they work against each other.
Revenue needs a market interface
Demand response and frequency programmes pay for flexibility, but each has its own signals, baselines and settlement.

Why current approaches fall short

Static time-of-use schedules
Charging at night and discharging in the evening ignores tomorrow's weather, load and tariff events.
Rules without a forecast
Threshold rules react to what the meter shows now. They cannot hold energy back for a peak that has not started yet.
A separate controller per programme
Joining a programme through the aggregator's own box means another controller on the battery and another dashboard for the operator.

How DYDON does it

DYDON Energy AI OS runs the full Capability Chain for a battery: connect and monitor it, forecast the day ahead, plan and execute dispatch inside the site's limits, and monetise the flexibility that is left over. Operators keep the final say.

  1. Connect

Connect the battery, inverter and meter

Battery systems, inverters, site meters and solar come in over Modbus and SunSpec. Existing hardware stays.

  2. Monitor

See charge, load and solar together

State of charge, site load, solar output and the current tariff window in one view, with the site's limits drawn in.

  3. Predict

    Forecast the day ahead

Load, solar and tariff forecasts for the coming days, updated as the day unfolds.

  4. Optimise

    Plan the dispatch

A daily plan that weighs peak shaving, tariff windows, self-consumption and programme events, while respecting the demand limit, export limit and battery health constraints.

  5. Control

Execute at the edge, with an override

The edge agent runs the plan locally, enforces the safety envelope even when offline, and lets operators pause or override at any time.

  6. Monetise

    Take the flexibility to market

Through DYDON VPP the same battery is offered into demand response and frequency programmes, with dispatch and settlement handled on the platform.

What you need

  • Battery storage
  • Solar
  • Buildings & homes
  • Grid
  • Interval meter data and, where present, solar generation history
  • Tariff structure, including time-of-use periods, demand charge and export terms
  • Battery and inverter specifications, warranty limits and current operating settings
  • Programme terms, if the site is already enrolled anywhere

What you can track

Every plan and every dispatch is logged, so the battery's behaviour can be reviewed against your own baseline.

  • Energy charged and discharged in each tariff window
  • Battery cycles and depth of discharge against warranty limits
  • Site peak demand and export against their limits
  • Programme events called, delivered and settled
  • Forecast accuracy for load and solar
  • Operator overrides and their reasons
