Use case
Renewable self-consumption
Solar produced at noon, exported for little, then bought back in the evening at full price. DYDON Energy AI OS shifts solar into the hours you actually use it.
The problem
- Midday surplus, evening demand
- Solar peaks when the site or the household is using least. Without storage and scheduling, the surplus is exported and the evening is bought from the grid.
- Export is worth less than import
- Feed-in rates are usually lower than import tariffs, and export limits cap what can be sent out at all.
- Flexible loads run on their own timers
- EV charging, hot water and pumps each start on their own timer, usually in the evening, and nobody schedules them into the sunny hours.
Why current approaches fall short
- Inverter defaults
- Self-consumption modes built into inverters charge whenever there is surplus and discharge whenever there is load. They know nothing about tomorrow's weather or tonight's tariff.
- One app per brand
- Each battery brand ships its own app, so a household with mixed hardware, or a partner with a mixed customer base, ends up with several disconnected views.
- Storage without a forecast
- Without a solar and load forecast, the battery is often full before the sunniest hours or empty before the evening peak.
How DYDON does it
DYDON Energy AI OS forecasts solar and load, decides between storing, using and exporting, and controls the devices within the limits the owner sets. The same engine runs a household through a partner's white-label app and a commercial site through AiEMS.
Connect
Connect solar, storage and load
Inverters, batteries, chargers and meters come in over SunSpec, Modbus and MQTT, across brands.
Monitor
See generation and use together
Solar output, load, battery state and grid import and export in one view, for one home or one site, or across a partner's whole customer base.
Predict
Forecast solar and load
Weather-driven solar forecasts and load forecasts per home or site decide how much surplus to expect and when it will be needed.
Optimise
Choose between store, use and export
The plan stores surplus when the evening will need it, shifts flexible loads such as EV charging or hot water into sunny hours, and exports only when that is the better use, all within export limits and the owner's preferences.
Control
Control within owner preferences
Devices are controlled at the edge inside the safety envelope. Households and site operators can set reserves, opt out of automation or override at any time.
Monetise
Aggregate into VPP where it fits
Homes and sites can be aggregated into market programmes, with the owner's consent and reserve settings respected.
What you need
- Solar
- Battery storage
- Buildings & homes
- EV charging
- Solar generation and load history for the site or household, at interval resolution
- Tariff details, including feed-in rate, time-of-use periods and any export limit
- Inverter, battery and controllable-load specifications
- For partners: the device brands and models across the customer base
What you can track
Generation, storage and use are recorded per home or site, so self-consumption can be evaluated against your own history.
- Share of solar generation used on site versus exported
- Share of consumption covered by solar and storage
- Energy shifted into sunny hours by flexible loads
- Export curtailed by limits, and when
- Forecast accuracy for solar and load
- Owner overrides and opt-outs
